It’s with extremely mixed emotions that Joyce and I write to tell you that we have chosen to put a pause on our church plant, The Hub Movement.
This change in direction for our church is as unexpected to us as we are sure it is for many of you.
With a church plant that is growing, healthy and so dear to us, along with deep friendships and a fierce love for this city, we have found ourselves at a crossroads.
Over this past month, a series of complex events have unfolded, that have resulted in us being without the proper visa covering or funding for this next crucial stage of our church plant.
As a result of these events, we have spent a significant amount of time in conversation and prayer. We did this individually, as a couple, and with friends and mentors. We have concluded that the best next step for our family and the longevity of any ministry we do, is to return to Australia for a season to regroup, rest and take some time to focus on what God is saying through all of this. We leave for Australia at the end of this month.
We would like to take this time to thank you so much for your prayers, friendship and support, especially over these past three years. We regularly say that coming to America has been the hardest best thing that we have ever done, this still rings true today. We especially want to thank our supporters, and the churches and ministries that have partnered with us on this journey, especially Discovery Church, Rope Factory Church, North Pole Worship Center, Maranatha, Convergence OC, The Cloud, Irvine Pres., Grace City Church, Mission OC, Fiducia, and Mariners Church.
We would also like to say that we are sorry to anyone that feels let down or discouraged by this decision.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Our convictions and passions aren’t changing: We value church planting now more than ever; We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to transform lives; and we will continue to love God and our neighbors as ourselves.
Joyce and I have recently been encouraged by the analogy of a GPS, when it comes to the journey of this life. Sometimes when driving you may find you miss a turn, or there is a disruption in service and you find yourself off the “blue line” that you had planned to be on. At this time, your GPS will say to you, “Re-Calculating”. This is what we are taking this next season to do, ask God to Re-Calculate us so that we can continue on this journey He has us on. We know that He will get us to His desired destination, for “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6).
We love you all and thank you again for your friendship.
U.S. friends, we will miss you dearly (and thank God for airplanes and the internet!). Australia, we will see you soon!
Bless you all,
Andrew, Joyce, Sean and Abigail.
Wow guys, this is huge. While we will be glad to welcome you back to Aus for rest and recalibration, I know how difficult this decision must have been for you. Praying that you feel the love and comfort of Your Heavenly Father as you wait on Him.
So good you guys!! I’m so excited to see where God leads you next and I’m so excited that you guys get to have this (I’m sure) much needed rest and re-focusing time. I will be praying over this time for your family. Love you guys so much! And thanks so much for everything you do for me and everyone you meet. You really give so much of yourselves and your time and everything you have, and I pray God will return in multiplication those same blessings to your family in this season. 🙂
Welcome home Scarboroughs, It will be beautiful to have you back with us. Preparing “The Table” for some great times. That may sound selfish in the current situation, but it is heart felt. God is always painting a picture bigger than we can see, the reason why we learn to trust.
You will be sorely missed. Praying for Gods wisdom during this season and the continuation of the great movement you have started here. God will refresh you as only he can and then it will be time to run the race set out before you once again….. we will continue to pray for you all . Xoxo
