|A Very Merry Christmas Update from the Scarboroughs|
Can you believe there are only a few more sleeps until Christmas. Before we know it, 2020 will be upon us!
I’m writing this special Christmas letter from my second last flight of 2019. I’m sitting next to Dylan, a young man on his way to a meeting. He keeps looking at my hat, which boldly proclaims “HOPE”, with a big cross in the middle of the O. Before this flight is over he will hear how much Jesus loves him. My wife jokingly says the only chance I get to rest on a flight is if the person next to me doesn’t speak English!
I’m flying to Sydney to meet with Youth for Christ’s CEO, alongside one of our Ambassadors, who has just been selected for the Olympics in 2020. We’re meeting to talk about how we can inspire and equip Australian youth to share the gospel with their sporting teams. There is much work to be done to reach this generation with the good news of Jesus, and I’m honoured to get to do the work I do.
To say that this year has been a year of unexpected blessings would be an understatement, and I wanted to take the time to thank you for your support and friendship in 2019, wish you a very Merry Christmas, and ask you to continue to pray for us and support us in 2020 as we go deeper and further in our journey together to reach the lost and revive the found.
Here are a few highlights from us in 2019.
▪Our precious son, Evan, was born on Easter Saturday. His new life reminds us of the joy of new life and the importance of sharing the gospel and seeing people born again.
▪Joyce led worship at Australia’s National Day of Prayer and Fasting.
▪Andrew preached all over Australia and in Indonesia, Canada and Wales.
▪Andrew helped host Franklin Graham at the Melbourne Arena where many gave their lives to Jesus.
▪Andrew started as the Ministry Director of Youth for Christ, Australia. He is now responsible for all the ministries of Youth for Christ and through this ministry has already trained up many evangelists and seen many come to know Jesus.
▪Andrew and Joyce began training to become internationally accredited life and ministry coaches.
▪Ever curious Sean finished Foundations (Prep) and is very much looking forward to Grade 1. He loves to learn and has made many great friends at his school.
▪Beautiful Abigail continued to grow into her beautiful self and was accepted into her brothers school for 2020, she is very excited about going to kinder!
As we head into 2020 we are looking forward to;
▪Celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary on January the 2nd!▪Andrew attending Christ for All Nation’s School of Evangelism in Florida.
▪Launching Youth for Christ’s strategy in Canberra, to place an evangelist / missionary in every Federal electorate of Australia by 2023 (151 evangelists, plus 5 online evangelists).
▪Moving into a larger home as our family continues to grow.
▪Reaching more people with the love of Jesus.
▪Supporting Awakening Australia’s Sydney event, our National Day of Prayer and Fasting, and anything else that the Lord may have in store!
We thank you for continuing to pray for us and support us in the work the Lord has us doing. I recently posted that I don’t fly for “holidays”, I fly for “Holy Days”. The reality is that every trip we take, be it interstate, internationally, or simply down to the local grocery store, is an opportunity to share the love of Jesus. Just last month I was able to minister to hundreds of “Schoolies” seeing several people be deeply impacted by the gospel and having one young man come back to the Lord as a result of a conversation with him. Thank you for helping us spread the gospel across the road and across the globe! We couldn’t do the bulk of our ministry if it wasn’t for your generosity.May God bless you richly in this season.
May you be refreshed and rejuvenated for a year of incredible harvest. 2020 is set be a momentous year indeed.
Thank you, and we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,
Andrew, Joyce, Sean, Abigail, and Evan.
P.S.- For those that receive our regular prayer letter, our good friend who writes these is on holidays. Please don’t stop praying for us despite the letter’s being paused for a few weeks. Please pray specifically for health, finance (we are in need of a new car in particular), and more opportunities to share Jesus with our neighbours before we move house in Feb 2020.
